Ian Gillan 1945. augusztus 19-én Hounslow-ban (Middlesex) született rock énekes dinoszaurusz. 1969-ben csatlakozott a Deep Purple-hez. 1970-ben elénekelte Jézust a "Jesus Christ Superstar"-ban. 1973-ban távozott a Deep Purple-ből, megalapította az Ian Gillan Band-et.

Szóló csapatát sok támadás érte ekkoriban. Gillan ugyanis szakított a korábbi hard rock zenével és a jazz-rock felé fordult. Végül az erős negatív hatások hatottak rá és szólóban is vissza tért a populáris hard rock vonalhoz, csapat kicserélve, nevét egyszerűen Gillan-re váltva. Ekkor jelent meg a Mr. Universe, amivel Gillan vissza tért a sláger listák világába is a Glory Road, Future Shock, Double Trouble és a Magic című dalokkal. 1983-ban, rövid időre csatlakozott a Black Sabbath-hoz, majd a Born Again album után ismét a Deep Purple-ben találhatjuk meg. De, másodszor is kilépett 1989-ben. Szóló pályafutása után tért 1992-ben ismét vissza, és ma is ő a Deep Purple hangja.

40 éves karrierjét ünnepli ezzel a CD/multi media projectel, ami dokumentálni hivatott hosszú és sikeres karrierjét.

Vendégeskedik a projectben (részletek a továbbon) Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath), Joe Satriani, Janick Gers (Iron Maiden), Uli Jon Roth (ex-Scorpions), Johnny Rzeznik (Goo Goo Dolls), Ronnie James Dio, Jeff Healey és persze Ian Paice, Roger Glover, Steve Morse, Don Airey és Jon Lord is. Régi dalai kaptak új köntöst most.

Az Unchain Your Brain az 1980-as Glory Road lemezről lendületesen érkezik. Joe Satriani gitáros és Michael Lee dobos életet ad a dalnak, ha elég butára is sikeredett annak idején. A Bluesy Blue Sea az 1982-es Magic-ről, benne Jamick Gers (gitár) és Michael Lee (dob) már sokkal inkább a Black Sabbathos Gillant idézi. Remek nóta!

A A Day Late And A Dollar Short az 1998-as Dreamcatcher-ről, benne Uli Jon Roth gitárossal, és a kórusban Ronnie James Dio-val sem kevésbé érdekes, ha nem is sikerült túlzottan érdekesre. Szerintem Gillan szóló pályafutásának egyik legjobban sikerült darabja a Hang Me Out To Dry az 1991-es Toolbox-ról. Ismét Joe Satriani-t és Michael Lee-t hallhatjuk a kemény hammondok közepette.

A Men Of War az 1981-es Double Trouble-ról Steve Morseáal és John Rzeznik-kel bulisabb hangulatú lett. A When A Blind Man Cries Jeff Healy-vel (a zseniális vak gitárossal) és (!) Jon Lord orgonájával pedig sokkal öregesebb. A nótát utoljára az 1997-es Deep Purple "Live At The Olympia 96"-on lehetett hallani. A Sugar Plum benne a nagy társsal Roger Glover-rel (basszusgitár) és Ian Paice-el (dob) az 1998-as Dreamcatcher-ről pattogósan sikerült.

A Black Sabbath 1983-as Born Again lemezéről a Trashed, benne Tony Iommi gitáros és Roger Glover - Ian Paice ritmusaival még mindig nagyon tetszik. Érdekes lett ezzel a felállással is, ha sokat nem is tesznek hozzá. A No Worries herflis blues hangulata után érkezik a Smoke On The Water (Machine Head - 1972) Steve Morse és John Rzeznik gitárjával, Jon Lord orgonájával és Ian Paice dobjával. Kissé öreges, de Lordot hallani mindig élmény!

A No Laughing In Heaven (Future Shock 1980, Double Trouble 1981) – közreműködik: Roger Glover (basszusgitár), Ian Paice (dob) - erőmentes, de bulis nóta. A Speed King - Deep Purple In Rock 1970 - Joe Satrianitól életre keltve erős lett, azzal együtt, hogy nekem nem elég jammelt. A Loving On Borrowed Time 1990-ből a Naked Thunder-ről lassú nóta musicales kivitelben, benne Steve Morse és Uli Jon Roth remek aláfestáéseivel.

  Záráskénr "sramliba fúlladunk" a I’ll Be Your Baby Tonight még az Episode Six (Radio 1 Club - Sessions 68/69 - 1997) időszakból, benne Joe Elliott énekes háttérhangjaival.
