1968 decemberében a Rolling Stones rendhagyó tévéshow-t forgatott: Jaggerék és neves zenészbarátaik egy cirkuszi előadás keretébe - artisták, tűznyelők és légtornászok közé - integrálták rockprodukcióikat.

A konferansziéként is bemutatkozó Stones-tagok a zenei kínálatot elsősorban a blues köré szervezték, a fekete amerikai gyökereket képviselő Taj Mahaltól a pályakezdő (az idő tájt épp Tony Iommi gitárossal fellépő) Jethro Tullig, sőt John Lennon is egy bluesos Beatles-dalt adott elő Eric Clapton, Keith Richard és Mitch Mitchell (Jimi Hendrix Experience) társaságában, de belefért a Who bő hétperces mini-rockoperája, Marianne Faithfull szép kis balladája és a zsákban vonagló, majd egy hegedűs kíséretében visítozó Yoko Ono avantgárd performansza is.

A fő attrakció a Rolling Stones félórás koncertje - lenyűgöző. A swinging London utolsó boldog pillanatai ezek, a helyét már láthatóan nem találó Brian Jonest nem sokkal később kirúgják és meghal, Mick szakít Marianne-nel, aki egy teljes évtizedre alámerül a drogpokolba, aztán jön Altamont és vége a hatvanas évek ábrándjainak.

A maga idejében be nem mutatott, a dobozból csak 1996-ban előkerült Rock And Roll Circus felbecsülhetetlen értékű dokumentum, ideje volt már, hogy DVD-n is megjelenjen.
